This last week Miles and I flew to Connecticut to have our wedding reception. It was fun to put my dress back on and get all dolled up again! My mom did such a wonderful job! I don't think I've ever seen our backyard look so beautiful. She had strung lights through the trees and the arbor, lights strung through the tent, the tables and centerpieces looked great, and it all came together so perfectly. I'm so grateful for my parents. They made Friday night so perfect and wonderful for me. My mom planned this one almost on her own, with the help of my friend Ashley Hall and her mom, but we were able to help setup at this reception, which was so much fun. My mom made a bowtie pasta with white sauce, a salad with poppyseed dressing, and dinner rolls, which from what everyone told me was divine. I never really got a chance to eat, which was a bummer because everything looked and smelled delicious. I made such a stink about having cheesecake from Chucks Steak House, and I never got a slice! (My parents were kind enough to take us to Chucks the next night so I could have a piece of cheesecake). It was so great to see everyone from home again. My parents have such a great ward, everyone is eager and willing to help. I really love that about the Newtown Ward. My sister Jen and my nephew Matth
ew flew in from Orange County to be there. We were definitely missing Nikki and Scott though. Three of my closest friends from high school were able to come. I'm so grateful to Ryan, Jenny, and Dan for driving home from school to be there. It meant so much to me and to Miles to meet the people from all my stories, and there are a TON. And I'm so happy that Leah and Jason were able to make it too! Leah and I swapped wedding plans for the last 4 months, so it was so fun having her, and talking in person! Unfortunately, I was having so much fun that I didn't take too many pictures (luckily I stole this one from Jenny, at least she's on top of things!) My sister Jen took pictures, but I had to have my hardrive reformatted, and I lost the folder.
Miles and I were also able to make it into New York City for 2 days. It was his first time, so we did all the fun touristy stuff, like the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, ESPNZone (a family favorite), and the Brooklyn Bridge. I wish we could have made it to a session at the Manhattan Temple and for a stroll through Central Park, but there's always a next time. I love that my parents live so close to the city.It was such a fun trip, I wish it could have lasted longer. But we had to head back to Rexburg for our next big adventure... school as a married couple! Here are some pictures from our weekend: (Matthew enjoyed the cheesecake too!)
