Daffodil Festival.

I'd be lying if said I went for the flowers. I went for the deep fried oreos, but luckily the flowers were quite lovely. Neither disappointed. The rides weren't too bad either. I would not suggest going on a ferris wheel with a two year old. Sitting still on the top of the ferris wheel while they load and unload with a wiggly little is my idea of a nightmare. He loved it, I almost died of anxiety. That aside, it was a perfect evening spent enjoying the beauty of nature and stuffing my face with deep fried oreos. Does life get better than that?

yo ho matey, lets go find di treasuuuure.

Are you noticing a trend? There may or may not be three pirate obsessed little boys in my life, hence all the pirate treasure hunts going on around these parts. A few weeks ago we had all the Greer grandbabies together for the most elaborate pirate treasure hunt yet. There was a treasure box with chocolate gold doubloons. There were eye patches and skull and cross bone bandanas. There were spy glasses and flags and giant samurai statues. There was a full on legit map that led us through trails in the forest. There were lots of "ho ho minney" (Caiden for yo ho matey), "arg me matey" and "ahoy ya skalleywags." It was, in a word, amazing.

Mystic Aquarium.

Let me preface this by saying that this beluga whale is legit. Her name is Juno and she is awesome. She would pose for pictures, play with the kids, blow water over the tank and splash you, and nuzzle her head right up to the glass to give you kisses. She was the most entertaining part of Mystic Aquarium and we could have spent all day in her presence. While for the most part zoo and aquarium animals make me kind of sad that they're penned up in tiny spaces, Juno seemed made for entertaining in captivity. Don't get me wrong the sea lion show and the penguins and the rest of the aquarium were good too, but Juno, she's a star.
