Can I Have This Dance

Miles spread Valentine's Day out over 4 days, each morning I woke up to a new little gift starting the Wednesday before. (When we first started dating, I'm talking first week we were dating, we started Date Night Wednesdays. We would take turns planning a surprise date, something that would share something with the other person that they didn't know about us.) So Date Night Wednesday started our Valentine's with Bajio and a giant balloon! My second Valentine's gift was a beautiful arrangement of white tulips, my absolute favorite flower. I'm not really a flower person, and I have told Miles that repeatedly. I'd rather buy something that lasts, like clothes or shoes. But it was such a nice surprise and I absolutely love my flowers. I only wish they would never die! So far so good! My next Valentine's gift were those delicious looking cupcakes. I love the Cocoa Bean. I'm not even sure what the word would be to describe the way I feel for their red velvet cupcakes. They are amazing. And Miles brought me home 2 of them. I was in heaven. My next Valentine's gift was my favorite perfume, Heavenly, from Victoria's Secret. It smells divine. My last gift was the early present Miles bought me while we were in Boise, my Holga camera, which I have already used and LOVE. It is amazing. If you don't know what Holga pictures look like, look them up on google pictures. I love toy cameras!

For Valentine's Day Miles was completely in charge (hence the 5 days of Valentine's). He tried finding a really nice sit down restaurant with live music and dancing, unfortunately they don't really exist in Rexburg/Idaho Falls area. So instead we went to a nice dinner at Outback and for a drive to the temple, where we decided to get out and dance to one of our songs, "Finally Found Someone" by Bryan Adams and Barbara Streisand. We usually slow dance in our kitchen and sing that song together. Last year on Valentine's Day Miles and I were able to go and do baptisms at the temple. It was a perfect Valentine's Day and I couldn't ask for a better forever Valentine! I even got some video footage of Miles singing to me, and we staged a dancing video.

and with every step together
we just keep on getting betterY

Recent Additions

Miles and I have had a few recent additions to our home the last few weeks. He bought me the beautiful iMac which I am incredibly excited about! I love it. And I have successfully converted him into a Mac user. I love the way Mac's are set up and operate. They're like a piece of art. It's so nice to spend hours on end at home doing homework instead of in the photo lab.
Also, I've been having second thoughts about our bedding lately. White was just too neutral and made me feel old. That's probably stupid, but I wanted to add some color and pattern to our bedroom. Miles was nice enough to entertain me and let me buy something different. It was hard finding something that wasn't too "girly" and that he would like. Pottery Barn pulled through once again and we found this quilt that we could agree on. The colors match perfectly with the Pottery Barn quilt we got for our wedding. I love it! I feel more like a 22 year old girl now. As I type this I realize how silly I sound, but it's nice to come home to a bed I love.

And I just had to share this video because Miles and I think it's hilarious. It's a photo lab favorite that I shared with Miles and we laughed the entire time. It never fails to make me laugh.

Happy Birthday Ariel!

Today is my absolutely beyond gorgeous sister-in-law's birthday. (and I'm not just saying that... she is seriously so beautiful. I was intimidated at first, I'm talking supermodel glamor beautiful.) I remember the first time I talked to her on the phone, I was leaving the mall in Sacramento and I was always so flustered trying to drive in California. There are way too many people. But Ariel just has a soothing motherly way about her. Even though we haven't had much time to get to know each other I feel so close to her. We have a lot in common and can talk about things I love most: Miles and Photography. She has the cutest little girl Paige and son River (whom I am dying to meet and hold and kiss and cuddle). She is one my greatest examples of motherhood. Happy Birthday Ariel! We wish we could be there to celebrate with you, especially since your hubby is so far away. But mostly because we love and miss you.

(I told you she was a stunningly gorgeous knock-out!)

Recent Heidorn Happenings

There has been quite a few things that we've (well I guess I've) been slow to blog about. We've been to two beautiful weddings of friends of ours, we've had our six month anniversary (I wrote about it but didn't realllllly write about it), a really fun FHE activity, and we've had snowboarding Fridays! Valentine's Day has also come and gone, but that deserves and entirely separate post.
Our friends Bria and Jason Lee were married on January 2, 2009 in the Salt Lake City temple. Their wedding was so beautiful! Bria looked like a bride right out of a magazine. Bria and I were roommates for a few years at the Ridge. Those two years with those girls were my favorite years as a single college student. I had so much fun. I love Bria! Their sealing was beautiful, their pictures are absolutely amazing, the lunch at her parents house was delicious, and their reception was wonderful. It was a perfect day.
Miles friend from before and after his mission, Drew, also got married recently to one of the cutest girls I have ever seen. The Hollenback's were married on February 7, 2009. Megan looked so beautiful on their wedding day. Her dress was so pretty, I loved it! We drove to Caldwell for their reception, and I'm so happy that we did. They had it at the Caldwell Train Depot. It was really neat. Here are a few pictures from both of their weddings...

We also had our six month anniversary last weekend. Since I already wrote my mushy I love Miles post, I'll just share with you some pictures. We went to Boise for the weekend. We went to the temple before Drew and Megan's wedding reception. The Boise temple is so beautiful! It was so much fun to be in the temple doing a session on the same day as I had gone through the temple for the first time six months previously. The next day we took a dip in the pool at our hotel and headed into Boise. I had never been to Boise before. The city center is so cute! There are so many shops and things to see. The World Wide Special Olympics was being held in Boise that week and there were a lot of activities going on to better educate people about the Special Olympics. We didn't see any competitions, but we did watch a fashion show for local businesses, ate some really good cookies, and walk around the little booths. It was a lot of fun. AND Miles bought me my first Valentine's gift, a Holga Camera! I'm so excited to use it. It came with color film and slide film, and I've only ever shot B&W with a Holga so I'm excited.

Also, Miles, Nikki and I have signed up for the snowboarding class again this year. Last year Miles and I had class on different days, so it's been so fun being able to snowboard together this year. I must say, I've made a lot of improvements from last year! I've already learned how to ride switch and my instructor made us go down the mountain last week with only one foot in our bindings... I wasn't so great at it, as the rather large bruise on my upper leg can attest, but it has definitely helped to improve my carving. It's been a lot of fun spending an entire day snowboarding with two of my best friends. Now if only Jen, Scott, Matthew, Mom and Dad could come with us and it would be the best day of my life! I'll cross all my fingers and toes. Unfortunately we don't have very many pictures from snowboarding, we've only brought our camera once. But here are a few! Miles bought me a new snowboard/boots/bindings and new snowboarding pants for my birthday this year! I love them, and him.

And lastly, I wanted to write about this FHE activity Miles and I did this last week. I love using my creative side, and Miles is very creative himself. When we were dating he drew me 2 pictures, both of which were really very good and both of which I still have. So, we decided to go to Porters, buy 2 canvas' and make a little decoration for our house. We picked up what supplies we wanted and got to work making two different things. Here's the result:

Miles' is the first one, and mine is the one all the way to the right. We have so much fun coming up with FHE activities. We love spending time together! I think Miles did a pretty great job. I loved watching him come up with ideas. He's just so cute.

6 Months into Eternity

I realize I'm 3 days late with this post, but since Miles never really checks our blog unless I ask him to, I don't think he'll mind! I can't believe we have been married for 6 months already. Sometimes it feels like our wedding day was just yesterday, and sometimes it feels like we've been married forever. It's hard to even picture life before Miles. It's like I was walking around half a person and never knew it until Miles completed me. Now when he goes on weekend long manager retreats with Pinnacle I don't quite feel like myself without him by my side. Every morning I get to wake up next to my best friend, it doesn't get much better than that. It hasn't always been easy adjusting to one another and our pet peeves, but we are getting really good at making up! I love Miles so much and I hope that I show him how much I appreciate everything that he does for me.
I'm feeling a bit nostalgic (and sometimes wish I could relive our wedding day because it was so perfect and wonderful and I felt like a princess) and since I never posted any of our wedding pictures on our blog, I thought I'd post a few favorites. It's hard because Gethyn did such a great job. If you'd like to check out the rest of our wedding pictures go to www.utahgraphy.com. Our passcode is greer08. But here are a few of my very favorites.
