Two Things for Today.

I was watching In Her Shoes with my friend, and fellow Pinnacle wife, Rachelle the other day  and I heard the peom "I Carry Your Heart With Me" by E.E Cummings. Miles and I keep a journal together. We write letters back and forth to one another as journal entries and we always include pictures or some sort of momento from the thing we're writing about. I had to write this poem down in our journal to him because it really just described our marriage. I just wanted to share it because I thought it was so sweet.

I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it (Anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear no fate (For you are my fate, my sweet)
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
And it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
And this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

This is a little digital scrapbooking page I made one bored afternoon. Came out kind of cute!

On another entirely unrelated note, when we were at Miles dad's house we watched the movie Yes Man.  Zooey Deschanel is quirky cute girlfriend Allison in the movie. The movie has also inspired a little something you'll be reading about a little later this week. Anyway, I looked her up on imdb.com (my internet source for any of the limited celebrity knowledge I have) and found that she also sings in real life. I am loving She & Him,  her solo project. Check it out on her myspace page. I've been listening to them all afternoon and just love it! Perfect soothing indie voice to inspire writing and creativity while editing pictures.

Getting Fit and Happy About It

I have been inspired by a few things this last week 1: I went to my sisters and wore her clothes all week (why wear my own when I have a closet full of different clothes) and her clothes felt too small for me. Her shirts were too a little too tight, her pants were too small... I realize it's ridiculous for me to be too upset with myself, however, it made me realize that even though I have not put on the dreaded wedding weight, I have lost a lot of muscle tone. 2: My brother-in-law Justin just ran a 50 mile marathon and is preparing for a 100 mile marathon. Amazing right? He ran in it less than 11 hours. 11 hours of straight running? Sounds crazy. But definitely admirable and inspiring.
Anyway, I decided upon returning from Orange County that I need to do something about how I was feeling. So I made a promise to myself to go jogging every day. I haven't enjoyed working out since I was in high school. I would really only go jogging when something was bugging me or when I wasn't happy. I guess that really does just suck the joy right out of it. But we live in a really great area with man made residential lakes surrounding us and sidewalks to run on. So I've been pretty good about it.
But today something just sort of clicked. I made a new playlist on my ipod, which as it turns out was entirely female artists. Kate Voegle, Demi Lovata, Miley Cyrus, Missy Higgins, Paramore, Bethany Joy Lenz, The Veronicas, Hilary Duff, Vanessa Hudgens, Pat Benatar, Flyleaf... I just have to make a song recommendation, I love Disney, it's no surprise to anyone that has lived with me, has watched TV with me, saw all 3 HSM's with me, or is remotely familiar with me... but Demi Lovata is awesome. Check out her song Get Back. I seriously love it. Anyway, The Climb by Miley Cyrus isn't exactly a running ipod playlist song, but I like it, so I put it on. The song came on early in my jog around Lake Riddell and something just sort of clicked. The part of the song where she says "I may not know it, but these are the moments I'm going to remember most" and continues with the chorus "There's always gonna be another mountain, I'm always gonna wanna make it move, always gonna be an uphill battle, sometimes I'm gonna have to lose. Ain't about how fast I get there, ain't about what's waiting on the other side, it's the climb." I've always listened to the lyrics and thought wow that's pretty insightful for a 16 year old but somewhere between the light breeze, the water, the trees, the smell of the flowers, I just felt so blessed. I realized that these really are the moments I'm going to remember most, the moments where Miles and I don't seem to have very much but it doesn't seem so important. The memories that I love most are the times spent at the playground, taking pictures together, going on walks, moments where we didn't spend money but laughed a lot. Miles and I are by no means struggling, Pinnacle has been such a blessing in our life and really taken care of us, but there are times that I get frustrated and sometimes I get upset about such little things but that's not what it's all about. And as I looked around at all that surrounded me I started to count my blessings and I have so much to be grateful for. It's easy to get caught up on your frustrations and even easier to get caught up in your successes, but sometimes the simple pleasures of life like running around a lake and smelling the flowers in the breeze make you realize that there is so much to enjoy in life.
Another thing I really love about where we're living is that it's such a family friendly neighborhood. As I was running today I saw a man and his son setting up for soccer practice, a man about my dad's age fishing with his sweet old mom, I stopped for baby ducks to cross the sidewalk into the lake, and a woman teaching her daughter to ride her bike. I'm sure I looked funny with a goofy smile on my face just soaking in the whole experience. Not to mention, I did rock out a few times. I usually don't care too much when I make a fool of myself because I figure I'll never see people again, but residents of West Laguna you better believe you'll be seeing me out there running every day. (I'm still not embarrassed, mainly because it was so much fun.)

Snow to Sun in 12 hours.

I can't believe how quickly Winter Semester has ended! The days went by slowly but the weeks went by fast. I can't say I'm sad to see it go. Miles and I worked hard this semester and it paid off. I got all A's and 1 B. I was pretty happy with that. I put in the hours though. Miles did too. He's so sweet, sometimes he would sit in the photo lab or the printmaking lab and help me or just spend time with me. He took charge of packing us up and getting us ready to leave for California. He did such a great job and I appreciate it so much. Here's a picture of our first storage unit together! Very exciting right? The entire thing was filled with our stuff by the end.

Before the semester was over we got together with our couple friends to eat, play games, and say goodbye. Unfortunately a few of them won't be back to Rexburg. It's been such a fun year making married couple friends. We've had some fun Halloween and Christmas parties. Here are some pictures of charades. There are some pretty good ones!

Miles measuring something... Jon as Satan.
Me probably regulating... Viv is touched?

Awww Mike and Les. Mike reading and laughing, Les I believe is being President Monson.

Now we're in sunny Sacramento, actually Elk Grove, for the summer. Miles is working for Pinnacle again. Our Apartments are amazing. Click the link to take a look. Maybe I'll take some pictures of our apartments soon. I've been kind of slacking in the picture taking area. We got to Sacramento on the 10th of April and spent some time in San Ramon with Miles mom and step-dad and then went to Modesto to see his dad and step-mom. We had a great Easter weekend seeing family. We even got to see Noelle, Luke, Jax, Lani, and Sunny! We got back to Sacramento on that Monday and settled in to our apartment. Then that Wednesday I flew down to Orange County to see my sisters and take care of my nephew while Jen and Scott went on cruise. I took lots of pictures (probably around 300!) but I had forgotten my camera and used Jen and Scott so I'll have to wait to post those until I get a CD from them. I also got to go to my friend Rachelle's wedding reception. Oh my goodness she looked gorgeous and teensy weensy and glowing and so happy. You'll see in the pictures. She was seriously so beautiful.
We're alive and well in Sacramento. We were quite happy to leave the snow for the 94 degree weather, laying out by the pool, barbque'ing lunch, winco 10 minutes away, a good mall, and fun with the other Pinnacle wives. It's going to be a great summer. I've had two interviews with families to nanny part time and Miles has been doing great! He's up to 21 sales so far with only 2 weeks being out here. Goes to show that even in times of economic turmoil my husband rocks! I love him and appreciate all that he's been doing for me and our soon to be growing family.
Pictures are soon to follow!
