This Week's Obsessions

It's been a little while since I've perused through websites filled with my obsessions like this, there's been a lot going on at the Heidorn house. But today I sat down and thought about all the things that I'm loving right now. Besides the obvious, like my fantastic husband, my puppy that's been very very cuddly today (which I love) and the fact that I just got back from my trip to Connecticut and I get to see my family again in a week, I've found 7 things that I now stand in need of.

First. I love bicyles. I just think that bike rides are so romantic. Especially if the bike is like the one below, yellow (my favorite color) with a gorgeous basket filled with flowers. How perfect does that look? I'd either want Nixon in my basket, or a bunch of peonies.
Second. My favorite flowers by far are peonies. But right now I'm really loving how romanic poppies look. Nikki used to want a poppy bouquet for her wedding before all her colors started changing and we found the picture below of a poppy bouquet and I absolutely love it. I want that sitting in a porcelain pitcher on my kitchen table.
Third. I want a slice of huckleberry pie. I am craving it. A lady in my ceramics class made it once and I about died and went to heaven. Huckleberry's are the perfect mixture of tart and sweet.
Fourth. The instamatic camera, the birth of point and shoot film cameras. It's so easy to use and I love the look of film versus digital. I would shoot exclusively in film if I had the confidence and the money. It's much cheaper to shoot in digital, but it's hard to mimic the effect that film has on a picture.
Fifth. How romantic is the engagement picture below? I can't remember which photographer's website I was looking at, but oh my goodness I want pictures of Miles and I on that rowboat. I want to take someones engagement pictures on that rowboat. It's absolutely and by far one of the prettiest things I've seen in a while. I had an idea to do an engagement shoot in a canoe once, got it all set up for a client, and it rained all day that day. Then I happened upon this picture and decided that the rain was for the best because what I really need is that rowboat.

Sixth. I am absolutely loving the color palettes below. And the photographs. I recently happened upon the site 100 Layer Cake and love all the colors they match together. I love the first one because the orange, yellow, pink, and slate colors just remind me of summer, and fruit, and picnics. I also love the photograph of the girl in an orange heart. It's so cute and playful and I wish I had a picture of me like that! I'm really in to pastels right now, which is why I love the second color palette. I love the soft peach and creamy colors. Every time I pick up an item of clothing that is pastel and creamy I want to buy it. Which is why I am staying away from H&M right now. I want everything.

Seventh and final. I LOVE THESE PHOTOGRAPHS. No no, I love these rooms. Holy cow this is the coolest thing I think I've seen in a while. They're wall decals that honestly transform any room from regular to imaginary. These rooms feel real and they feel magical. I feel like I've stepped in to my kindergarden imagination! I can't wait to transform a room in my house. I also just love the way the photographer paired up the furniture with the decals. They each fit together perfectly. The photos are phenomenal. I want to buy every decal and create a photographic series of my own!

4th of July

The weekend of the 4th of July Miles and I drove up to Illinois to see Cindy and the girls. Nixon got to come too! He loved Maddie and Hallie. We had so much fun relaxing and spending time with our family. And, as all big brothers should, Miles got to teach Maddie how to drive! We went to a church parking lot and switched drivers. Unfortunately, those are the only pictures I took all weekend.

We drove back Saturday evening because we couldn't find anyone to substitute teach our Primary class. After church we had a little birthday party for Nixon (it was his 1st birthday on the 4th of July) including a party hat I made for him, a birthday cake of wet dog food that Nixon likes, he got a haircut and a new toy! He's already destroyed the toy but he absolutely loved it. The speed at which the stuffing is removed from the toy is how we can measure how much he loves a toy.

After our little birthday party we took Nixon on a walk in the park with his friends Nilla and Coco (Kevin and Rochele's dogs) and then we had a barbecue. I made a 4th of July funfetti cake. Afterwards we walked to the field right behind our apartment complex where the city was putting on their fireworks show. It was the best and longest fireworks show I've been to! Nixon loved the lights and was fascinated by the fireworks, but he did not so much enjoy the booming sounds. He only lasted about 5 minutes before we quickly ran him home and went back. The show lasted 45 minutes and it was beautiful. We had a great 4th of July, hope you did too!
