Christmas Cards

I made our Christmas cards in Adobe Illustrator this year, but we'll only be sending them to members of our family. So I thought I would post it on my blog for our friends to read. So.. here it is!

Kenneth Josephson

Here's a little sneak peak of a project I've been working on. More can be seen by clicking here. It's been pretty fun, stretched my creativity a little, and helped me step out of my element for a bit.

My idea was inspired by the photographer Kenneth Josephson. You should check his work out. It's pretty cool. I think that when I graduate in one week I'm going to start doing self directed projects like this where I find a photographer that inspires me and then replicate their work with a Chelsey Heidorn twist!

So Many Updates.. So Little Time!

I should be studying for my History of Photography test right now.. but I can't seem to focus so I figured that I have so many things going on, I guess I could blog to clear my mind. The semester is winding to a close, thank goodness! I can't believe that in 2 weeks I will be a college graduate. It's pretty crazy. It hasn't really dawned on me yet either. I hung my BFA show last week and had the opening reception. So I can check that stress off my list! It feels pretty good to have it done. Now I'm just 2 Fit for Life tests and one History of Photo test and project away from graduation. Here's what we've been up to (get ready for a LOT of pictures):
I shot a wedding at the Bountiful Temple:

We embarked on a 14 hour road trip to Southern California:
We stopped in Vegas:

We played with this cute little nephew:

I took this gorgeous sister's maternity pictures:

Went to Disneyland:

My sister went in to labor at Disneyland, so we got to meet this cute nephew:

We went to Laguna Beach for Thanksgiving and I fell in love. We're moving there, Miles doesn't have a choice:

I took this cute little one day old's pictures, he was one of my best models:

Then we drove back to Rexburg. It sucks. It's so stinkin' cold here it's ridiculous. I want to be back in SoCal. I just have to wait 5 months.. can summer come now? We'll be moving to the San Fernando area this summer and Miles will be managing an office with our friend Chris Kranenburg.
It's been crazy busy but I'm loving it! ALSO (as if there wasn't enough on here already) Miles and I will be moving to this cute white house in a week:

That's about all! Fewf you made it to the end! Thanks for sticking it out.

Our Thanksgiving Plans

Our weekend starts today! We're driving down to Salt Lake City/Bountiful so that I can shoot this cute couples wedding! I'm pretty excited. I loved shooting their engagements. I had my sister video tape some of their engagement shoot and put together a video with those clips and a bunch of their engagement pictures set to Ben Folds "Luckiest." It was pretty awesome if I do say so. They're so sweet and so much fun to shoot because they love each other so much. You can just see it in their eyes and the way they look at each other, and by the things they do and say when they think no one is watching. This is what makes me love what I do so much. I feel so honored that they trust me enough to photograph their wedding day and I get to be with them on their happiest day of their lives and preserve these memories for them. They'll be getting married in the Bountiful, Utah temple tomorrow morning. In case you can't tell, I'm pretty excited.
After Utah we'll head to Vegas and then Orange County to see this little guy. I love my nieces and nephews. I haven't been able to see Matthew since April. I hate that I can't be there with him every day. He's my buddy and just so dang cute. I can't wait to just scoop him up in my arms and give him a million kisses. I have spent all but one Thanksgiving with Jen and Scott since they got married. I'm pretty excited to get to see them and my mom. I'm just sad that my dad won't be there. The whole family will be together except him. I wanted to fly him out to be with us, but unfortunately he has to work. Bummer. I guess they can't close the hospital just because it's Thanksgiving. I love being with my family, and luckily I married a man that loves being with my family too. I'm a lucky girl with so much to be grateful for this Thanksgiving.
And if we're lucky we might get to see this little bean make his debut to the world!

Senioritis

I am having a MAJOR case of senioritis right now. I didn't even have senioritis in high school. If fact, my senior year was my hardest year and also my very best year academically. It didn't really hit me until Monday morning around 9am when I had absolutely no desire to get out of bed and go to class. I've had mornings like this before.. but I usually pull myself up and get going, or I'll lay there and skip my first class and eventually make it to the rest of my classes that day. If not, I always went the second day. But Monday I laid in bed all day. Tuesday I was feeling disorganized and in a disarray and spent the day cleaning my house instead of going to school. Now this could be in part because my better half has been out of the country and we haven't even been been able to talk since Saturday morning (never a good thing for a girl that relies so fully on her husband) or see each other since Thursday morning. I miss him. But I think this goes beyond that. I am just flat out done with school. I've mentally checked out. My BFA is pretty much done and ready to hang, I'm not really taking any photography classes this semester so my excitement about school went downhill pretty quickly, sometime around October, and in 5 weeks, including Thanksgiving break, I will be a college graduate. I'm supposed to be studying for a Fit of Life test right now, it's a long one too... (so glad I waited until my final semester for this class.. yuck). The book is sitting next to me. I have 45 minutes to be at the testing center, but what am I doing? Blogging about studying. I haven't actually even opened the book to know what my test is on. Someone please instill the fire back inside me to finish up my final semester! I've maintained a 3.8 gpa through college only to let it tank in my final semester (well not entirely because I had a 4.0 at midterms). HELP ME get excited about learning again.

Oh and by the way, I got an 85 on that test... that just took away any motivation I have to study ever again.

Happy Belated Halloween!

For Halloween this year Miles and I decided to dress up as a pilot and flight attendant so I decided to make Nixon a little airplane costume. We had fun with our friends and our family.

My Pumpkin Masterpiece

I am extremely proud of my pumpkin this year... it deserves it's own post separate from all other Halloween festivities and activities.
I picked one of my FAVORITE engagement pictures (courtesy of Todd Erickson, we love you Todd!) and turned it into a stencil in Illustrator. And then from the stencil to a pumpkin. See a resemblance?
