Mr. Bedhead Deux.
Caiden had a rough week about 2 weeks ago. He had a cold and cough, an ear infection, and he was breaking 2 top molars. He was miserable. He was very clingy to his momma. He wouldn't eat, he wouldn't sleep. I was about to lose my mind! There were several meltdowns (of both the Caiden and momma variety). He just wanted to be in my arms. Around day 4 we discovered he would sleep if I climbed in his crib with him. I didn't want to start bad habits, but I indulged. I'd help him fall asleep in his crib and then I'd slither out from under his sleeping body and climb in my own bed. It wasn't ideal, but it got us through the week. To be honest, I kind of miss the snuggles now. He had no problem transitioning back to his old routine, but I'm a tad nostalgic.
Some (aka Miles) say I'm a bit of a heater when I sleep. My body emits a strange amount of heat. Sometimes Miles won't even sleep with the covers on. The first night I slept in Caiden's crib with him his head got really sweaty. When he woke up the next morning he was crazy Mr. Bedhead. So bad he had to take a bath to tame that wild hair! I sure love my little man and I'm so so so happy he's back to his normal happy self! Those molars are killers!

Little Fishy.
Caiden is our little fishy. He's loved swimming since he was 3 months old and felt the sand between his toes and the Atlantic ocean washing over his feet. When we were in Bermuda last summer (5 months old) we had to force him out of the resort pools to nap. When we moved back to Connecticut in January we joined the YMCA. I signed Caiden and I up for mommy and me swimming lessons right away. Each Tuesday we hop in the 90 degree therapeutic pool and he swims like a fishy. He's already mastered blowing bubbles, kicking, and scooping. He's a natural! He loves to splash and play with the pool toys. Next week is our last swim lesson of this session and the teacher suggested we bump him up to the 18-24 month old class next session. This week we've had some beautiful spring weather, temperatures reaching up to 86! So we dragged out the blow up whale pool and Caiden's been splashing every day. He broke 2 molars this week so it's been slightly miserable and the whale pool has made it so much better! We love our little fishy. I'm thinking there will be many swim meets in my future.

C's Easter portraits.
Love this baby boy and his adorable Easter outfit. It amazes me how much of a little man he's become in the last month. I can't get enough.

March 15.
Miles had the day of Caiden's birthday off of work. We decided to go to the Maritime Aquarium. We were joined by Nikki, Robby, Rilee, Jen, Matthew, and my mom. He loved all the fishies and walking/crawling all over the place. During the seal show Caiden was more excited about going up and down the stairs, but when it was over he was standing by the glass and noticed a seal swimming and loved watching them swim. His favorite thing was the stingray tank. He loved splashing in the water. Again he was completely unaware of the ray's swimming around the tank until the end when one got close to him. Once he noticed them he was hooked! He wanted to follow them all around the tank. He loved climbing in the meercat peek hole and banging on the shark tank glass. After the aquarium we went back to my parents house for dinner. Caiden loves breakfast foods. He especially loves waffles and eggs. So for dinner we made omelets and waffles and had more cake and ice cream. He opened some more birthday gifts (seriously spoiled) and then went to bed dreaming of swimming and fishies, cake and waffles. All in all, a well celebrated 1st birthday!

Two Weeks in Instagram.
The last two weeks have been mellow and lovely. The weather hasn't been quite as warm (we're sure missing the 70 degree weather) but we've still managed to play outside almost every day. We've been going for our afternoon jog, swinging on swings, and playing with outdoor toys. We've taken lots of baths on rainy days because Caiden loves to be in the water. Miles and I went on a Saturday night date into NYC to see some friends and on a double date with my parents to see Hunger Games. We went on a family date to Chuckie Cheese and won some tickets. Caiden was terrified of the Chuckie rat. Caiden now knows the word "bellybutton" and will lift up his shirt when you ask him where it is. He'll also lift up other people's shirts to get a look at their bellybutton! He's very interested in eyes and noses this week. He's still taking swimming lessons at the YMCA and loving it! He blows bubbles, kicks his feet, scoops his arms and splashes around. He knows how to climb out of the pool and jump into your arms. He's a little fishy! Mr. Toothbrush has come on a lot of adventures with us in the last two weeks. Caiden is mildly obsessed. He's serious about his dental health! After Conference on Sunday my very preggy sister, Jen, and I went over to the high school track to walk and climb stairs. It was raining but we were trying to get that baby girl out! She's still in... maybe this week! Caiden love to put the leash on his dog and walk him around the house. It's still so strange to see my baby boy walking! Strange but wonderful. He loves walking on his own! And finally, I framed one of Caiden's artistic masterpieces and put it on his bookshelf in his room. He loves to color (and sneak nibbles on his crayons) and I love that I get to share my talents and passions with my son.
