Our First Christmas
Miles and I got home from Mexico and California a couple of days before Christmas, so we had a lot to do! After much deliberating, we decided to purchase a fake tree this year. We set up the tree, decorated it, wrapped presents, made cookies for Santa, played a round of rumikub, read from Luke 2, set up our new nativity that my mom and dad bought us for Christmas and went to bed anxious. I actually couldn't hold out until Christmas morning and begged Miles to let me open a present. I'm not quite sure what got into me this year, I was very excited for Christmas. This was my first Christmas away from home. It was a lot quieter but also a lot of fun to sleep in until 10 in peace, make breakfast, and then open presents at our own pace. Miles requested homemade cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning breakfast. After opening our gifts we relaxed for awhile and started dinner. Since it was just the two of us eating, we decided on a small 4lb chicken instead of a large turkey, it was my first time preparing a bird of any sort, so picking the gizzards out was a whole new experience for me. Pretty gross. We also prepared sweet rolls, mashed potatoes, stuffing, a salad, and some martinelli's in our wedding champagne glasses. We ended the evening by watching a Christmas movie. It was a really quite and relaxing Christmas.
