Tomorrow is the highly anticipated 6 week post-partum mark, which means I can officially start working out! I've already been walking on the treadmill with Caiden nestled in the baby bjorn, but I'm excited to get out on the road and start jogging. In fact, I've never been so excited to work out in my entire life! I've also never seen the scale climb quite so high (I know I know, I was pregnant. But still it was depressing. Healthy, but depressing). I'm training for a triathlon in July to motivate me to work off the baby weight and I'm ready to hit the pavement/pool. Miles bought me some new running shoes that I've started to break in and I am ready to get back to pre-pregnant Chelsey. I already lost 32lbs, I just have 15 pesky pounds left. And since I wanted to lose about 5lbs before I got pregnant, I figure if I can lose 15, I can lose 20. So that's my goal! So now all I need are some new tunes to go in on of these things...

But I need help! I haven't downloaded a new song in ages. I need some upbeat motivating songs that will push me when that extra mile seems impossible. Suggestions are more than pleasantly welcomed, they are encouraged. Please please please leave a comment with a few favorite work out tunes. New songs, throwbacks, anything! I'm open to all suggestions.

  1. As your "sis"
    and now a trainer,
and a mama that gained 50 lbs
    with each of my babies,
I have to tell you to take it easy!
I know the feeling of wanting to be your old self so quickly, but you have to take it SLOW, especially since you are breastfeeding. You have to know that the weight will come off, just maybe not as fast as you would like but be patient with your body. It took 9 months to grow that big, and you should give it 9 months to go back to it's original size.....OK!!!!!
Plus, you aren't getting the sleep you need know to sustain strenuous workouts....you can run yourself ragged really easily.
Just focus on strengthening your core, lifting light weights to build a little muscle and eating well, then your metabolism will be on fire :) Lots of walks and light jogs....easy easy easy.
Only weigh yourself like once a month to track progress....promise! Love you!!!

This is my playlist this week...a little eclectic, but it is getting the job done!

  5. Hey if you have already lost 32 lbs you are doing great. And I totally agree with Ariel on not being to hard on yourself and taking it easy. Your body performed a miracle so be thankful and loving to it. (That's what I try to remind myself whenever I have a fat day). Good for you though for signing up for a half. Nothing motivates you like a deadline. I think I have the same jogger except mine is grey and black with a little bit of apple green. Jogging with it isn't as easy as I thought but it definitely burns the cals. As far as music goes, Postal Service has a good beat and always keeps me pushing a few more miles.

  9. depending on what type of songs you like to listen to.... I tend to prefer intense ones as opposed to pop. Jonsi's "Go Do" is a favorite, as well as his "Grow Til Tall." Florence's "Blinding" has great crescendos, Glen Hansard's "Leave" and Radical Face's "Welcome Home, Son" are all favorites. Also, I second Jenica's Freelance Whales suggestion, though I don't like to run to it.
