Mets Game.

So here's the thing: I'm a Mets fan. I was born a Mets fan. I was raised a Mets fan. I (somewhat) converted Miles to be a Mets fan. I plan to raise my kids as Mets fan. Sure, they haven't won a World Series since 1986 aka the year I was born. And sure they haven't even been to the World Series since 2000. So they've missed the playoffs on the last day of the regular season in 2007 and 2008 and have finished with losing records every year since. They'll break your heart every year, but I'm hanging in there, cheering for them, and crossing my fingers every year that this will be their year. At lease no one can ever accuse me of being a bandwagon fan. I have pledged my allegiance to the Mets so it doesn't matter much where I live geographically, I will be a Mets fan. So it only makes sense that the first week I live in Atlanta the Mets play the Braves and we are there, behind the visitors dugout, cheering on the Mets to eventual defeat. But hey the top of the 5th inning was exciting and we left shortly after to get Caiden in bed. They were tied when we left and that's how I like to think it ended. And the Mets took the series, so that's a victory.

Mother's and Father's Days.

Mother's Day was pretty low key for us. Miles took off the night before to drive down to Atlanta to start his new job on the following Monday. It wasn't exactly ideal, but Caiden and I were together and that's what the day is about right? Celebrating motherhood with those that make you a mother. After what felt like an eternity apart Caiden and I flew to Atlanta in the nick of time for Father's Day. We got in late Saturday night. As we were deplaning Caiden was chanting "daddy daddy daddy" and when we were off the plane he started running and saying "daddy are you? daddy hiding? daaaaaddy!" He practically leaped out of my arms when he saw his daddy again after all that time apart!  We spent all of Father's Day reveling in the fact that we were together as a family and appreciating the sacrifices that Miles made for us during the time we were apart. I made Miles and Caiden a matching tie/bowtie set as I have for the last 3 years. Family traditions. We spent the rest of the day giving Miles presents, going to our new ward, taking family naps, and sharing a home cooked meal together. It was pretty perfect.

Farm Life.

Ahh the farm life. Sometimes I really think I could do it: live off the land, have a herd of animals to tend to, life simply. But then the city girl in me pulls me back to reality. I like things and shopping and restaurants. So I guess visiting the farm will do. When the White's were visiting in Connecticut we headed to Muscoot farm to play with the animals. It also happened to be Miles' last day of work at Indeed so he got to join us too. And because it was early spring we got to see some tiny baby animals. Perfection.

Bronx Zoo x 2.

In early May we went to the Bronx Zoo with all of Caiden's cousins on my side of the family while the White's were here visiting. My dad took the day off of work to join us and Caiden got lots of shoulder rides from Uncle Robby (aka he was in heaven). Despite the fact that C had an on again off again fever, cough, and cold we had a lot of fun. So much fun that we decided to go back later in the month with just the Lake's. It was a bit hotter, a bit more crowded, but just as fun. We went into the kids zoo this time which was a big hit with Caiden and Michael. We even went on a camel ride. We are zoo lovers over here and are excited to check out the Atlanta Zoo in the coming months.
